My name is Galatea Papageorgiou. I have been living on Santorini since 2002 and have enjoyed my own studio space here since 2003. This experience makes me a young potter: one who develops unique forms as inspired by the ancient Cyclades.
My work continues to develop and change. At this stage there are 5 distinct styles: (i) White pottery with black designs These pieces are hand painted. They make beautiful, authentic dinnerware. (ii) Coloured slip-ware 2005 was my first year with these vibrant colours. These functional pieces will brighten any room.(iii) Matte and satin glazes These are classical, rich colours-- good for any surface. (iv) Decorative motifs from Akrotiri, Santorini For these pieces I create my own forms: plates, platters, bowls, plaques, etc. with hand-painted motifs and scenes from the wall paintings and pottery found at Akrotiri. (v) Sculptural forms. This category contains more artistic pieces which are not only decorative, but often functional. They include sculptural pieces, feminine forms in various shapes and sizes, tripod vessels, coliseums, and
more. Please note that the actual pottery may vary slightly in colour and shape from the photographs
on my website. Also, I am open to suggestions and ideas and would be happy to work with you to make a custom line of pottery to suit your needs.
